Flowers are blooming, Birds are chirping, bugs are dying on our car windshields, Spring is here! Finally some great extended nice weather, we can come out of our winter cocoon and let the sun shine in. And it is the First day of May, which has significant meaning for many reasons, If you have High School senior’s they have to make a decision on college, and many Northern Europeans celebrate this day as a Spring festival, so happy day to you all.

Friday night dinners at the Wenham Tea House. Reservations are recommended, dinner starts at 5pm., Early Birds take an additional 10% off before 6pm., we will be seating until 9pm. This is a $39.00 per person Prix Fix and I will be writing a small custom wine list for this so call the Tea House @ 978-468-1398 to book your table for Peter Capalbo’s great food!

One of the highlights of the season is the launch of the  Rosé Wine, and once again Henry’s Wine Cellar will lead the way with over 20  Rosé‘s in stock and more coming all Summer long. To Kick this off I will be conducting a Rosé Seminar On Saturday, May 4th during the first hour of the tasting 2:30-3:30pm. We have room for 25ppl. so we require people to sign up for this and the cost is free. We will taste 9 different Wines with varying styles and will also discuss food pairing with these versatile Wines. As always with these wines what I am able to buy ahead of time is all I will have, especially at the price it is, so If you like something you might want to lock in a case or so to make sure you can enjoy it through out the Summer. Blind Wine Club is here again today, But we must delay the pick-up of Bags until tomorrow (Thursday). if you’re a member come on by and pick up your bag then please. If you are not a member, you need to be! Or try a bag and investigate Blind tasting and Food pairing.

Many of you have received the Wenham Tea House newsletter talking about the Spanish Wine Dinner, Saturday, June 1st., we are Roasting a whole Pig but that only represents one course of this fantastic traditional style Spanish feast. Henry’s Wine Cellar has access to Tenuta del Ornelia, One of the most prestigious Italian “Super Tuscan” (Bordeaux Blend) wines in all of Italy. We are able to get .750ml., 1.5ml. and 3lt. Bottles of this incredible wine and though they are not inexpensive these are wines that would complete any collection and can lay down for a couple of decades. Fun Wine Fact:  A Rosé (from French:rosé also known as rosado in Portugal and Spanish-speaking countries or rosato in Italy) is a type of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. It may be the oldest known type of wine, as it is the most straight forward to make with the skin contact method. The pink color can range from a pale “onion“-skin orange to a vivid near-purple, depending on the grape varieties used and wine making techniques. There are three major ways to produce rosé wine: skin contact, saignée and blending. Rosé wines can be made still, semi-sparkling or sparkling and with a wide range of sweetness levels from bone-dry Provençal rosé to sweet White Zinfandels

and blushes. Rosé are made from a wide variety of grapes and can be found all across the globe.
